The urgent need for sustainable waste management practices in urban environments has become increasingly apparent due to the continuous growth of cities and the associated rise in waste generation. This thesis addresses the challenges and opportunities in implementing sustainable waste management practices within urban settings. The study focuses on exploring innovative approaches to waste management that prioritize environmental protection, resource conservation, and community well-being. Through a comprehensive literature review, this research identifies key issues and trends in urban waste management, highlighting the importance of adopting sustainable practices to mitigate environmental impacts and enhance the quality of life for urban residents. Chapter One provides an introduction to the topic, presenting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definitions of key terms. The literature review in Chapter Two critically examines current practices and policies in urban waste management, identifying best practices and emerging trends in sustainable waste management. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology, including research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, and data analysis procedures, to investigate the implementation of sustainable waste management practices in urban environments.
