The rapid urbanization and population growth in cities worldwide have led to an increase in waste generation, posing significant challenges to environmental sustainability and public health. Effective waste management strategies are essential to address these challenges and promote a cleaner and healthier urban environment. This thesis focuses on the implementation of sustainable waste management strategies in urban areas, aiming to explore innovative approaches to managing waste in a manner that is environmentally friendly, socially equitable, and economically viable. Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the research topic, outlining the background of the study and the problem statement. The objectives of the study are to investigate current waste management practices in urban areas, identify the limitations and challenges faced, and propose sustainable solutions to enhance waste management efficiency. The scope of the study covers various aspects of waste management, including waste collection, recycling, treatment, and disposal. The significance of the study lies in its potential to contribute to the development of sustainable waste management practices that can be adopted in urban areas worldwide.
