Abstract
The representation of gender in postcolonial literature is a complex and multifaceted subject that has garnered significant scholarly attention in recent years. This thesis explores the ways in which postcolonial authors depict gender roles, identities, and power dynamics in their works, with a focus on how these representations intersect with issues of race, class, and colonial history. Through a comprehensive analysis of a diverse range of postcolonial texts, this study aims to shed light on the nuanced ways in which gender is constructed, performed, and contested in the context of postcolonial societies. The introduction provides a comprehensive overview of the research topic, outlining the background of the study and highlighting the importance of examining gender in postcolonial literature. The problem statement identifies the gaps in existing scholarship and sets out the research questions that will guide the study.
