The evolution of literature has been marked by various movements and periods that have shaped the way stories are told and interpreted. One such significant movement is postmodern literature, which emerged in the mid-20th century and challenged traditional narratives, structures, and representations. This thesis investigates the influence of postmodern literature on contemporary fiction through a comparative analysis of selected works. The study explores how postmodern techniques, such as metafiction, intertextuality, fragmentation, and pastiche, have been adopted and adapted by contemporary authors to reflect the complexities of the modern world. The thesis is structured into five main chapters. Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the research topic, outlining the background of the study, the problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, and the structure of the thesis. Chapter 2 presents a comprehensive literature review, discussing key concepts and theories related to postmodern literature and contemporary fiction.
