This thesis investigates the portrayal of mental health in contemporary literature through a comparative analysis. The study aims to explore how mental health issues are represented in a selection of literary works from different cultural contexts and time periods. By analyzing the depiction of mental health in these texts, this research seeks to uncover common themes, trends, and variations in the portrayal of mental health experiences in literature. The comparative approach adopted in this study allows for a nuanced understanding of how mental health is depicted in diverse literary works and provides insights into the cultural, social, and historical factors that shape these representations. The introductory chapter sets the stage for the study by providing background information on the topic, stating the problem statement, outlining the objectives of the study, discussing the limitations and scope of the research, highlighting the significance of the study, and presenting the structure of the thesis.
