This study investigates the impact of social media usage on mental health among adolescents. With the proliferation of social media platforms and the increasing amount of time spent online by adolescents, concerns have been raised regarding the potential effects on mental well-being. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining survey data with in-depth interviews to explore the relationships between social media use and mental health outcomes. The findings indicate a complex interplay between various factors, including the type of social media platform, the frequency of use, and individual coping strategies. While some participants reported positive effects such as social support and self-expression, others highlighted negative outcomes such as cyberbullying and feelings of inadequacy. The qualitative data provide rich insights into the nuanced ways in which social media can influence mental health, emphasizing the importance of considering individual differences and contextual factors. Overall, this study contributes to a deeper understanding of the role of social media in shaping adolescent mental health outcomes and highlights the need for targeted interventions to promote positive online experiences and psychological well-being.
