Abstract
This research project focuses on examining the impact of social media on mental health among teenagers. The study aims to explore how the use of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat affects the mental well-being of adolescents. The research will investigate the relationship between social media usage patterns, such as time spent on these platforms, types of interactions, and content consumed, and various aspects of mental health, including self-esteem, body image, anxiety, and depression. The methodology for this study involves conducting surveys and interviews with a sample of teenagers to gather data on their social media habits and mental health status. The surveys will assess the frequency and duration of social media usage, the types of content they engage with, and their feelings of self-worth and emotional well-being. The interviews will provide more in-depth insights into how social media influences their perceptions of themselves and others, as well as their overall mental health. The findings from this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the effects of social media on adolescent mental health. By identifying specific patterns of social media use that are associated with negative mental health outcomes, this study can help inform strategies and interventions to promote healthier online behaviors among teenagers. It is expected that the results will provide valuable insights for parents, educators, mental health professionals, and policymakers on how to support teenagers in navigating the complex digital landscape in ways that protect and promote their mental well-being. Overall, this research project seeks to shed light on the complex relationship between social media and mental health among teenagers.
