Abstract
The research aimed to investigate the impact of mindfulness meditation on stress reduction in college students. A total of 100 college students participated in the study, with 50 in the experimental group practicing mindfulness meditation for 30 minutes daily for six weeks, and the other 50 in the control group continuing their regular routine. Various measures were used to assess stress levels before and after the intervention, including self-reported questionnaires and physiological markers such as cortisol levels. The results showed a significant decrease in stress levels among the students who practiced mindfulness meditation compared to the control group. The experimental group reported feeling more relaxed, less anxious, and better able to cope with academic pressure. Physiological data also supported these findings, with lower cortisol levels observed in the experimental group post-intervention. Furthermore, the study explored the potential mechanisms underlying the stress-reducing effects of mindfulness meditation. Qualitative data from participant interviews revealed themes such as increased self-awareness, improved emotional regulation, and enhanced resilience. These findings suggest that mindfulness meditation may help college students develop coping strategies to manage stress more effectively. Overall, the research provides valuable insights into the benefits of mindfulness meditation for stress reduction in college students. The findings support the growing body of literature on the positive effects of mindfulness practices on mental health and well-being. Future studies could further investigate the long-term effects of mindfulness meditation and explore its potential application in educational settings to promote student well-being and academic success.
