Abstract
The research project aims to investigate the impact of social media on mental health among teenagers. Social media has become an integral part of daily life for a significant portion of the population, especially adolescents. The study will explore how the use of various social media platforms affects the mental well-being of teenagers, focusing on factors such as self-esteem, body image, anxiety, and depression. The research will utilize a mixed-methods approach, combining surveys and interviews to gather data from a diverse group of teenagers. The surveys will assess the frequency and duration of social media usage, as well as the types of content consumed. The interviews will provide more in-depth insights into the participants' experiences and perceptions regarding social media and its impact on their mental health. One of the key objectives of the study is to identify potential correlations between social media use and mental health outcomes. By analyzing the data collected, the research aims to determine whether there is a relationship between factors such as excessive social media use, exposure to unrealistic body standards, cyberbullying, and symptoms of anxiety and depression among teenagers. In addition to exploring the negative effects of social media on mental health, the research will also investigate potential positive influences. This includes examining how social media can be used as a tool for social support, self-expression, and positive reinforcement. By understanding both the risks and benefits of social media use, the study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of its impact on teenagers' mental health.
