Abstract
This research project investigates the impact of social media on mental health among adolescents. The study aims to explore how the use of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat influences the psychological well-being of teenagers. A mixed-methods approach will be utilized to gather both quantitative and qualitative data to provide a comprehensive understanding of the issue. The quantitative aspect of the research will involve surveying a diverse sample of adolescents to assess their social media usage patterns and mental health status. Various standardized scales will be employed to measure variables such as depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and social comparison. Statistical analyses will be conducted to identify potential correlations between social media usage and mental health outcomes. In addition to the quantitative data, qualitative interviews will be conducted with a subset of participants to gain more in-depth insights into their experiences with social media and its effects on their mental well-being. Thematic analysis will be employed to identify common themes and patterns in the qualitative data, which will complement the quantitative findings.
