Abstract
This research project aims to investigate the impact of social media on mental health among adolescents. The use of social media among adolescents has become prevalent in today's society, with platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook being widely used for communication and social interaction. While social media offers various benefits such as connectivity and information sharing, there is increasing concern about its negative impact on mental health, particularly among the vulnerable population of adolescents. The study will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews to comprehensively explore the relationship between social media use and mental health outcomes among adolescents. The quantitative aspect of the research will involve administering standardized questionnaires to a diverse sample of adolescents to assess their social media usage patterns and mental health status. Key mental health indicators such as anxiety, depression, and self-esteem will be measured to determine the prevalence and severity of mental health issues among adolescents who use social media. In addition to the quantitative data, qualitative interviews will be conducted with a subset of participants to gain in-depth insights into their experiences with social media and how it impacts their mental well-being. These interviews will allow for a more nuanced understanding of the complex mechanisms underlying the relationship between social media use and mental health outcomes. By triangulating the findings from both quantitative and qualitative data, this study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the impact of social media on adolescent mental health.
