Thesis Abstract

Abstract
Effective refuse management is a critical aspect of maintaining environmental sustainability and public health in modern society. This research project explores various strategies, challenges, and prospects associated with the management of refuse. The study involves a comprehensive review of existing literature, case studies, and interviews with key stakeholders in the waste management sector. The strategies identified for effective refuse management include waste reduction at the source, recycling and composting programs, efficient collection and transportation systems, and the development of advanced waste treatment technologies. These strategies aim to minimize the amount of waste generated, maximize the recovery of useful resources, and reduce the environmental impact of waste disposal. However, several challenges hinder the successful implementation of these strategies. These challenges include inadequate infrastructure and facilities for waste management, limited public awareness and participation in waste reduction initiatives, inconsistent enforcement of waste management regulations, and financial constraints faced by waste management authorities. Addressing these challenges requires a multi-faceted approach that involves government intervention, community engagement, private sector collaboration, and public education campaigns. Despite the challenges, there are promising prospects for improving refuse management practices. Technological advancements in waste sorting and processing have the potential to enhance the efficiency of waste management operations and increase resource recovery rates. The growing trend towards circular economy principles also offers opportunities for shifting towards a more sustainable approach to waste management, where resources are reused, recycled, or repurposed to minimize waste generation. Furthermore, the increasing awareness of environmental issues and the shift towards sustainable lifestyles among the general public create a conducive environment for promoting responsible waste management practices. By leveraging these prospects and adopting a holistic approach to refuse management that integrates social, economic, and environmental considerations, it is possible to overcome the challenges and achieve sustainable waste management outcomes. In conclusion, effective refuse management requires a combination of innovative strategies, stakeholder collaboration, and public engagement. By addressing the challenges and capitalizing on the prospects in the waste management sector, it is feasible to develop sustainable waste management systems that protect the environment, conserve resources, and promote public health.

Thesis Overview

1.1 INTRODUCTION
This work was obligated to present in one. The fundamental and practical information in the filed of the comparative analysis of the strength of concrete made from various aggregate which may be useful to people involve in civil and structural engineering and particularly, those that found pleasure in the design and related structure.
Due to high cost of sand in the market the comparative analysis of strength of concrete made from various aggregate play an important role in cost of transportation, thus the cost of material.
Enugu state case a case study has quite an abundance of washed gravel, which are usually picked out from stream, black and surface gravel present in every part of the state though, in many construction sites, mostly within Enugu metropolis crushed/granites stones got from Abalikik and Nkalagu are mostly used, in the rural areas, washed gravel are mostly used because of its availability and cheapness compared to crouched stones.
The aim of this project therefore, is to compare the compressive strength produced b those washed, black, surface and granite stone got from different areas and to see if there is any way, these coarse aggregate can be interchanged during construction especially when her is shortage of any one of the materials.
