Thesis Abstract

Abstract
Skin cancer is a prevalent and potentially life-threatening disease that affects millions of people worldwide. Early detection and monitoring of skin lesions are crucial in improving the prognosis and survival rates of patients. In recent years, advancements in technology, particularly in the field of mobile applications, have provided new opportunities for enhancing skin cancer detection and monitoring processes. This thesis presents the development of a mobile application specifically designed for skin cancer detection and monitoring. The objective of this research is to create a user-friendly and accurate mobile application that can assist individuals in self-assessment of skin lesions for potential signs of skin cancer. The application utilizes image analysis algorithms to analyze and classify skin lesions based on established criteria for identifying malignant features. By leveraging the capabilities of smartphones, users can conveniently capture images of skin lesions and receive immediate feedback on the likelihood of malignancy. The literature review section of this thesis examines existing studies and technologies related to skin cancer detection, mobile health applications, and image analysis algorithms. By synthesizing previous research findings, this study identifies gaps in current practices and proposes a novel approach to utilizing mobile technology for skin cancer detection and monitoring. The research methodology section outlines the process of developing the mobile application, including data collection, image processing techniques, algorithm design, and user interface development. The study also discusses the evaluation methods used to assess the performance and accuracy of the application in detecting skin cancer. The findings of this research demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of using a mobile application for skin cancer detection and monitoring. By conducting a series of tests and evaluations, the application achieved high levels of sensitivity and specificity in identifying malignant skin lesions. The results suggest that the mobile application has the potential to serve as a valuable tool for early detection and monitoring of skin cancer. In conclusion, the development of a mobile application for skin cancer detection and monitoring represents a significant advancement in leveraging technology to improve healthcare outcomes. By empowering individuals to proactively monitor their skin health and seek timely medical intervention, this application has the potential to enhance early detection rates and reduce the burden of skin cancer. Further research and collaboration with healthcare professionals are essential to validate the efficacy and safety of the mobile application in clinical settings.
