ABSTRACT This thesis investigates the phenomenon of code-switching in multilingual social media communication. Code-switching refers to the practice of alternating between two or more languages within a conversation or discourse. With the rise of social media platforms, individuals are increasingly engaging in multilingual communication, presenting a unique opportunity to explore the patterns and functions of code-switching in this context. The research aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of code-switching behavior in multilingual social media interactions, focusing on the factors influencing code-switching, its impact on communication effectiveness, and the socio-cultural implications of this linguistic phenomenon.
