Abstract
Co-operatives play a significant role in fostering socio-economic development in rural communities by providing financial services and opportunities for collaboration among community members. This study explores the impact of co-operative financing on socio-economic development in rural communities, with a focus on understanding how co-operative financial services contribute to the overall development of these communities. The research methodology employed a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data analysis and qualitative interviews with key stakeholders in the co-operative sector and rural communities. The study findings reveal that co-operative financing has a positive impact on socio-economic development in rural communities by enhancing access to financial services, promoting savings and investment opportunities, and fostering community empowerment through collective decision-making and resource mobilization. The research also identifies various challenges and limitations faced by co-operatives in delivering effective financial services, including limited access to capital, inadequate infrastructure, and regulatory constraints.
