Abstract
This thesis investigates the impact of co-operative business models on sustainable development in rural communities. Co-operatives have long been recognized as a viable alternative to traditional business structures, particularly in rural areas where access to resources and markets can be limited. The study aims to analyze how co-operatives contribute to sustainable development by promoting economic growth, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability in rural communities. The research methodology involves a comprehensive literature review to explore the theoretical foundations of co-operatives and sustainable development. Additionally, primary data will be collected through surveys and interviews with key stakeholders in various rural co-operatives. The data will be analyzed using qualitative and quantitative methods to identify the key factors influencing the impact of co-operative business models on sustainable development. The findings of this study are expected to provide valuable insights into the role of co-operatives in promoting sustainable development in rural communities. By examining the challenges and opportunities faced by co-operatives, the research aims to offer practical recommendations for policymakers, practitioners, and community members to leverage the potential of co-operative business models for sustainable development. Overall, this thesis contributes to the existing literature on co-operatives and sustainable development by providing a comprehensive analysis of their impact in rural communities. The findings are expected to inform future research and policy initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable development through co-operative business models.
