Abstract
Urban areas around the world face increasing challenges related to stormwater management due to rapid urbanization and climate change. Traditional stormwater management systems often struggle to cope with the volume and intensity of storm events, leading to flooding, pollution, and infrastructure damage. To address these challenges, this thesis focuses on the design and analysis of sustainable stormwater management systems for urban areas. The study aims to develop innovative solutions that can effectively manage stormwater while promoting sustainability and resilience in urban environments. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, including the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms. The literature review in Chapter Two examines existing stormwater management practices, sustainable design principles, urban water management strategies, green infrastructure technologies, and case studies of successful stormwater management projects.
