Thesis Abstract

<p> The invasion of non-native plant species has been recognized as a significant threat to ecosystem functioning and biodiversity. While the effects of plant invasions on aboveground communities have been extensively studied, the impact on belowground microbial communities remains poorly understood. This project aims to investigate the influence of plant invasions on soil microbial communities and their functional diversity. By analyzing soil samples from invaded and non-invaded areas, we will assess changes in microbial community composition, abundance, and activity. Additionally, we will explore the potential mechanisms driving these changes, such as alterations in soil physicochemical properties and plant-microbe interactions. The findings of this study will contribute to our understanding of the ecological consequences of plant invasions and provide insights into the role of soil microbial communities in invaded ecosystems. <br></p>
