Thesis Abstract

This project aims to explore the benefits of art education for students' cognitive flexibility. Cognitive flexibility refers to the ability to adapt and switch between different cognitive processes, perspectives, or strategies when faced with new or changing situations. The project will review existing literature on the relationship between art education and cognitive flexibility, examining how engagement in artistic activities can enhance cognitive flexibility skills such as problem-solving, creative thinking, and adaptability. It will also investigate the underlying cognitive mechanisms and brain processes involved in art-related cognitive flexibility. The findings of this project will contribute to a deeper understanding of the cognitive benefits of art education and inform the development of educational practices that foster cognitive flexibility through art.
