The integration of nature into the design of urban spaces has gained increasing attention in recent years, with a growing recognition of the benefits that biophilic design principles can bring to the built environment. This thesis explores the application of biophilic design principles to enhance urban spaces, aiming to create healthier, more sustainable, and more aesthetically pleasing environments for urban dwellers. The introduction sets the stage by providing an overview of the significance of biophilic design in urban contexts and presents the research objectives, problem statement, limitations, and scope of the study. The background of the study delves into the theoretical underpinnings of biophilic design and its relevance in urban planning and architecture. The literature review in Chapter Two critically examines existing research on biophilic design principles, highlighting key elements such as natural light, vegetation, water features, and natural materials in urban design.
