Abstract
The use of probiotics in animal nutrition has gained significant attention in recent years due to their potential to enhance gut health and overall performance in poultry production. This study aimed to investigate the impact of probiotics on gut health in broiler chickens. The research involved a comprehensive literature review to understand the current knowledge on probiotics, gut health, and their interactions in broiler chickens. Additionally, a series of experiments were conducted to evaluate the effects of probiotic supplementation on gut health parameters, performance metrics, and immune responses in broiler chickens. Chapter one provides an introduction to the study, discussing the background, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, and structure of the thesis. The chapter also includes the definition of key terms related to probiotics, gut health, and broiler chickens. Chapter two presents a detailed literature review covering ten key aspects related to probiotics, gut health, and broiler chicken production. Chapter three outlines the research methodology employed in the study, detailing the experimental design, sample collection methods, probiotic supplementation protocols, gut health assessments, performance evaluations, and immune response measurements. The chapter also discusses statistical analyses and data interpretation methods utilized in the study. In chapter four, the findings of the research are extensively discussed, presenting the impact of probiotics on gut health parameters such as intestinal morphology, microbiota composition, and immune responses in broiler chickens. The chapter also evaluates the effects of probiotic supplementation on growth performance, feed efficiency, and nutrient utilization in broiler chickens. Finally, chapter five provides a comprehensive conclusion and summary of the project thesis. The key findings, implications, and recommendations for future research are discussed in this chapter. The study contributes to the existing knowledge on the use of probiotics in improving gut health and performance in broiler chickens, highlighting their potential as a sustainable and effective nutritional strategy in poultry production.
