Thesis Abstract

Abstract
This thesis investigates the correlation between physical activity levels and bone density in elderly individuals. The aging process is associated with a decline in bone mass and density, leading to an increased risk of fractures and osteoporosis. Physical activity has been identified as a key modifiable factor that can positively influence bone health. However, the specific relationship between physical activity levels and bone density in elderly individuals remains unclear. This study aims to address this gap in the literature by examining the impact of physical activity on bone density in a sample of elderly individuals. The research design is a cross-sectional observational study involving a sample of 200 elderly individuals aged 65 years and above. Bone density measurements will be taken using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scans, and physical activity levels will be assessed using self-reported questionnaires and accelerometers. Statistical analyses, including correlation and regression analyses, will be conducted to determine the relationship between physical activity levels and bone density. The findings of this study are expected to provide valuable insights into the role of physical activity in maintaining bone health in elderly individuals. The results may have implications for the development of targeted interventions aimed at promoting physical activity to improve bone density and reduce the risk of fractures and osteoporosis in this population. Ultimately, this research has the potential to contribute to the advancement of preventive strategies for bone health in elderly individuals.
