Abstract
This thesis explores the impact of mobile technology on knowledge sharing within agricultural extension services. The increasing availability and affordability of mobile devices have transformed communication channels in various sectors, including agriculture. However, the specific implications of mobile technology on knowledge sharing within agricultural extension services are not well understood. This study aims to address this gap by examining how the use of mobile technology influences the sharing of agricultural knowledge among farmers, extension agents, and other stakeholders in the agricultural sector. The research methodology employed a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather data from a sample of farmers, extension agents, and experts in agricultural extension services. The study identified various mobile technologies being used for knowledge sharing in agriculture, including mobile applications, SMS services, and voice calls. The findings revealed that mobile technology has significantly enhanced knowledge sharing by providing timely and relevant information to farmers, facilitating communication between stakeholders, and improving access to extension services. The literature review highlighted the importance of effective knowledge sharing in agricultural development, emphasizing the role of mobile technology in overcoming traditional barriers to information dissemination in rural areas. The research methodology section detailed the data collection methods, sampling techniques, and data analysis procedures used in the study. The discussion of findings section presented the key results, including the positive impact of mobile technology on knowledge sharing practices and the challenges faced in implementing mobile solutions in agricultural extension services. Overall, this study contributes to the existing literature on the role of mobile technology in agricultural extension services and provides practical insights for policymakers, extension workers, and other stakeholders in the agriculture sector. The findings suggest that mobile technology has the potential to revolutionize knowledge sharing practices in agriculture, leading to improved productivity, sustainability, and livelihoods for farmers. The study concludes with recommendations for future research and practical implications for enhancing the use of mobile technology in agricultural extension services.
