Abstract
Agricultural extension services play a crucial role in disseminating information and resources to farmers, enabling them to adopt new technologies and practices for improved productivity and sustainability. However, traditional extension approaches face challenges in reaching remote rural communities effectively. This thesis explores the implementation of mobile technology as a means to enhance agricultural extension services in rural areas. The study investigates how mobile technology can be leveraged to bridge the information gap, provide timely and relevant agricultural information, and facilitate communication between extension agents and farmers. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research, including the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of terms. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review covering ten key aspects related to agricultural extension services, mobile technology applications in agriculture, and the impact of technology adoption on rural development. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology, including the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, and ethical considerations. The chapter also discusses the selection criteria for study participants, the development of research instruments, and the validation process. Chapter Four presents the findings of the study, highlighting the key outcomes and insights gained from the implementation of mobile technology in agricultural extension services. The chapter includes an elaborate discussion of the findings, drawing connections between the data collected and the research objectives. Chapter Five concludes the thesis by summarizing the key findings, discussing implications for practice and policy, and offering recommendations for future research.
