Abstract
This thesis investigates the impact of mobile technology on agricultural extension services in rural communities. The agricultural sector plays a crucial role in the economic development of many countries, particularly in rural areas where a significant portion of the population depends on agriculture for their livelihood. Agricultural extension services are essential for disseminating information, knowledge, and best practices to farmers, enabling them to improve their productivity and income. With the rapid advancement of mobile technology, there is a growing interest in exploring its potential to enhance agricultural extension services and address the challenges faced by rural farmers. The study begins with an introduction that provides background information on agricultural extension services, the role of mobile technology in agriculture, and the importance of addressing the needs of rural communities. The problem statement highlights the gaps and challenges in the current agricultural extension services and the potential of mobile technology to bridge these gaps. The objectives of the study are to assess the impact of mobile technology on agricultural extension services, identify the factors influencing the adoption of mobile technology by farmers and extension workers, and evaluate the effectiveness of mobile-based extension services in improving agricultural practices and outcomes. The study is conducted within the context of rural communities, focusing on the challenges and opportunities faced by smallholder farmers and extension workers in accessing and utilizing agricultural information and services.
