Abstract
Climate change is a pressing global issue with far-reaching implications, particularly in the agricultural sector of developing countries. This thesis examines the economic impact of climate change on crop production in a developing country. The study focuses on understanding how changing climatic patterns and extreme weather events have affected crop yields, farmer incomes, and food security in the context of a developing nation. Through a combination of quantitative analysis and qualitative assessments, this research aims to provide valuable insights into the challenges faced by farmers in adapting to climate change and suggest potential strategies for enhancing resilience and sustainability in agriculture. The study begins with an introduction that sets the context for the research, followed by a comprehensive review of existing literature on climate change impacts on crop production. The research methodology section outlines the data collection methods, sampling techniques, and analytical tools used to investigate the economic consequences of climate change on crop production. The findings from the analysis are discussed in detail in Chapter Four, highlighting key trends, challenges, and opportunities identified through the research process. The results of the study underscore the significant economic implications of climate change on crop production in the developing country under investigation. Changes in temperature and precipitation patterns have led to reduced crop yields, increased production costs, and income instability for farmers. The study also reveals that smallholder farmers are particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, given their limited access to resources and technologies for adaptation. In conclusion, this thesis provides a critical evaluation of the economic impact of climate change on crop production in a developing country. The findings emphasize the urgent need for targeted interventions and policy measures to build resilience in the agricultural sector and safeguard food security in the face of a changing climate. The study contributes to the existing literature on climate change adaptation in agriculture and offers valuable insights for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers working towards sustainable development goals in developing countries.
