Abstract
Climate change has become a critical global issue with far-reaching implications, particularly for developing countries heavily reliant on agriculture. This thesis investigates the impact of climate change on agricultural productivity and farmer income in a developing country context. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of agricultural production data with qualitative interviews with farmers and agricultural experts. The first chapter provides an introduction to the research topic, outlining the background, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, and structure of the thesis. It also defines key terms related to climate change, agriculture, and developing countries. The second chapter presents a comprehensive literature review focusing on ten key areas related to climate change, agricultural productivity, and farmer income in developing countries. Chapter three details the research methodology, including the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, and data analysis procedures. The chapter also discusses the ethical considerations and limitations of the research process. In chapter four, the findings of the study are presented and analyzed in detail, highlighting the impact of climate change on agricultural productivity and farmer income in the selected developing country. The results of the study reveal the significant challenges faced by farmers due to changing climatic conditions, including fluctuations in rainfall patterns, increased pest and disease pressure, and declining crop yields.
