Climate change poses a significant threat to agricultural productivity and food security, particularly for smallholder farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa. This research project aims to investigate the specific impacts of climate change on smallholder farmers in the region and explore potential strategies to enhance resilience and adaptation. The study will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of agricultural productivity data with qualitative interviews and surveys with smallholder farmers. The first chapter of the thesis provides an introduction to the research topic, including background information on climate change and its implications for agriculture in Sub-Saharan Africa. The problem statement highlights the urgent need to address the challenges faced by smallholder farmers in the region, while the objectives of the study outline the specific research goals. The chapter also discusses the limitations and scope of the study, as well as its significance in contributing to the existing literature on climate change and agriculture. Chapter two presents a comprehensive literature review on the impacts of climate change on agricultural productivity and food security, with a focus on smallholder farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa. The review examines existing research on climate change adaptation strategies, agricultural practices, and policy interventions aimed at enhancing resilience in the face of changing climatic conditions.
