Bribery and corruption have long been recognized as pervasive issues in Nigerian society, significantly affecting the country's social, economic, and political landscapes. This research project aims to explore the multifaceted effects of bribery and corruption in Nigeria, shedding light on its implications for governance, economic development, social cohesion, and overall well-being of the population. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature, data analysis, and case studies, this study seeks to provide a nuanced understanding of how bribery and corruption undermine the rule of law, erode public trust in institutions, and perpetuate social inequalities in Nigeria. By examining the various forms and manifestations of bribery and corruption in different sectors, including government, business, and civil society, this research aims to highlight the interconnected nature of corrupt practices and their detrimental impact on the country's progress and stability. Furthermore, this project will investigate the mechanisms through which bribery and corruption distort economic activities, hinder investment and growth, and perpetuate poverty and inequality in Nigeria. By analyzing the linkages between corruption, weak institutions, and economic underperformance, this study intends to offer insights into potential policy interventions and reform measures that could help mitigate the adverse effects of corruption on the country's development trajectory. Moreover, this research project will delve into the social consequences of bribery and corruption in Nigeria, examining how these practices exacerbate social tensions, undermine trust among citizens, and perpetuate a culture of impunity and moral decay. By exploring the ethical dimensions of corruption and its impact on social norms and values, this study aims to contribute to the broader discourse on integrity, accountability, and good governance in Nigerian society.
