Abstract
Corruption has been a pervasive problem in Nigeria, hindering the country's development and impeding progress in various sectors. This research project aims to explore the problems and prospects of eradicating corruption in Nigeria. The study will delve into the root causes of corruption in the country, examining historical, political, economic, and social factors that have perpetuated corrupt practices. Additionally, the research will analyze the impact of corruption on governance, the economy, and society at large. Furthermore, the project will investigate the existing anti-corruption mechanisms in Nigeria, including legislative frameworks, law enforcement agencies, and anti-corruption bodies. By assessing the effectiveness of these mechanisms, the study seeks to identify gaps and challenges that have impeded successful anti-corruption efforts in the country. Moreover, the research will examine the role of political will, institutional capacity, and public participation in combating corruption in Nigeria. In exploring the prospects of corruption eradication in Nigeria, the project will highlight best practices and successful strategies employed in other countries to tackle corruption. Lessons learned from these experiences will be critically analyzed to determine their applicability and relevance to the Nigerian context. Additionally, the study will assess the role of technology, transparency, and accountability in enhancing anti-corruption initiatives in the country. The research project will employ a mixed-methods approach, utilizing both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. Interviews, surveys, and document analysis will be conducted to gather primary and secondary data on corruption in Nigeria. The findings of the study are expected to provide valuable insights for policymakers, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders involved in anti-corruption efforts in the country. Overall, this research project aims to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on corruption in Nigeria and provide evidence-based recommendations for eradicating corruption.
