Abstract
This research project aims to investigate the current state of aftercare services and reintegration programs for ex-convicts in Nigeria. The study will employ a survey-based approach to gather data on the effectiveness, accessibility, and challenges faced by ex-convicts in accessing aftercare services and reintegrating into society post-incarceration. The research will focus on understanding the types of aftercare services available, the level of support provided, and the success rates of reintegration programs for ex-convicts in Nigeria. The survey will target a diverse range of participants, including ex-convicts who have gone through the reintegration process, service providers involved in aftercare programs, government officials responsible for policy-making in the criminal justice system, and members of the general public. By collecting data from multiple stakeholders, this research aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the current landscape of aftercare services and reintegration efforts in Nigeria. The findings of this study will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the challenges and opportunities in supporting ex-convicts to successfully reintegrate into society. By identifying the gaps in the current aftercare services and reintegration programs, this research can inform policy recommendations and interventions to improve the support system for ex-convicts in Nigeria. The research will also explore the impact of socio-economic factors, stigma, and discrimination on the reintegration process of ex-convicts. By examining the experiences and perspectives of ex-convicts, service providers, and policymakers, this study aims to shed light on the systemic barriers that hinder successful reintegration and propose solutions to address these challenges. Overall, this research project seeks to generate valuable insights into the aftercare services and reintegration programs for ex-convicts in Nigeria. By highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of the current system, this study aims to contribute to the development of more effective and inclusive support mechanisms for ex-convicts, ultimately promoting their successful reintegration into society and reducing recidivism rates.
