Abstract
The aim of this research is to investigate the impact of environmental pollutants on marine invertebrates within a coastal ecosystem. Marine invertebrates play a crucial role in marine ecosystems, contributing to biodiversity and ecosystem function. However, they are particularly vulnerable to the effects of environmental pollutants due to their direct exposure to contaminants in the water and sediment. This study focuses on understanding the specific impacts of pollutants on marine invertebrates in a coastal ecosystem, with the goal of informing conservation and management strategies to mitigate these effects. The research will be conducted through a case study approach, focusing on a specific coastal ecosystem that is known to be impacted by environmental pollutants. The study will involve field sampling to assess the abundance and diversity of marine invertebrates in different areas of the ecosystem, as well as laboratory experiments to investigate the physiological and behavioral responses of selected species to pollutants. Additionally, water and sediment samples will be collected and analyzed to quantify the levels of pollutants present in the environment. The literature review section of this research will provide a comprehensive overview of previous studies on the impacts of environmental pollutants on marine invertebrates, highlighting key findings and gaps in knowledge. The research methodology will outline the sampling methods, experimental design, and analytical techniques that will be used to collect and analyze data for this study. The discussion of findings section will present the results of the field and laboratory experiments, discussing the specific impacts of pollutants on marine invertebrates and potential implications for ecosystem health.
