Abstract
Osteoarthritis is a common degenerative joint disease in dogs, leading to pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. Current treatment options are often palliative and fail to address the underlying cause of the disease. Stem cell therapy has emerged as a promising regenerative medicine approach for treating osteoarthritis by promoting tissue repair and regeneration. This research project aims to explore the effectiveness of stem cell therapy in treating osteoarthritis in dogs. Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the study, a background of osteoarthritis in dogs, the problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the research, and definition of terms. Chapter 2 presents a comprehensive literature review on the use of stem cell therapy in veterinary medicine, specifically focusing on osteoarthritis treatment in dogs. The review covers various studies, methodologies, results, and gaps in the existing research. In Chapter 3, the research methodology is detailed, including the selection of study subjects, stem cell isolation and preparation, treatment protocols, outcome measures, and statistical analysis methods. The chapter also discusses ethical considerations and potential challenges in conducting the study. Chapter 4 presents the findings of the research, analyzing the efficacy of stem cell therapy in improving clinical symptoms, joint function, and histological changes in dogs with osteoarthritis. The discussion addresses the implications of the results and compares them to previous studies in the field. Finally, Chapter 5 summarizes the research findings, conclusions, and recommendations for future studies in this area. The study contributes to the growing body of evidence supporting the use of stem cell therapy as a viable treatment option for osteoarthritis in dogs, highlighting its potential for improving the quality of life and overall prognosis for affected animals.
