Abstract
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common degenerative joint disease in dogs, causing pain, lameness, and reduced quality of life. Current treatment options for OA in dogs are often palliative in nature, focusing on pain management rather than disease modification. In recent years, stem cell therapy has emerged as a promising alternative for the treatment of OA in dogs. This research aims to explore the use of stem cell therapy in the treatment of OA in dogs, evaluating its efficacy, safety, and potential benefits. The research methodology will involve a comprehensive literature review to examine the current state of knowledge on stem cell therapy for OA in dogs. The review will cover studies on the use of various types of stem cells, such as mesenchymal stem cells, in the treatment of OA in dogs, including their mechanisms of action, therapeutic effects, and limitations. Additionally, the research will investigate the practical aspects of stem cell therapy in veterinary clinics, including the process of stem cell isolation, preparation, and administration. The study will also include a retrospective analysis of clinical cases where stem cell therapy was used to treat OA in dogs. Data on the outcomes of treatment, including improvements in lameness, pain scores, and joint function, will be collected and analyzed to assess the effectiveness of stem cell therapy in real-world veterinary practice.
