Abstract
Osteoarthritis is a common degenerative joint disease affecting dogs, leading to pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. Current treatment options for osteoarthritis in dogs are limited in their ability to provide long-term relief and often come with side effects. Stem cell therapy has emerged as a promising alternative for treating osteoarthritis by promoting tissue repair and regeneration. This research project aims to explore the use of stem cell therapy in treating osteoarthritis in dogs. The study begins with a comprehensive literature review to examine the existing knowledge and research on stem cell therapy for osteoarthritis in dogs. Various aspects such as the mechanism of action of stem cells, different types of stem cells used, and the outcomes of previous studies will be reviewed to provide a solid foundation for the research. In the research methodology section, the study design, selection criteria for participants, stem cell administration protocol, and outcome measures will be detailed. The research will involve a controlled clinical trial to assess the effectiveness of stem cell therapy in improving clinical signs and joint function in dogs with osteoarthritis. The findings from this study will be discussed in detail in the results and discussion section. The analysis will include the comparison of pre- and post-treatment clinical assessments, radiographic evaluations, and owner-reported outcomes. Any adverse effects and limitations encountered during the study will also be addressed. In conclusion, this research project aims to contribute to the growing body of evidence supporting the use of stem cell therapy as a safe and effective treatment for osteoarthritis in dogs. The results of this study have the potential to significantly impact the field of veterinary medicine by providing a novel therapeutic approach for managing osteoarthritis in canine patients.
