Abstract
Chronic pain is a pervasive health issue affecting millions of individuals worldwide, leading to significant morbidity and reduced quality of life. As conventional pharmacological treatments for chronic pain often come with various side effects and limitations, there has been a growing interest in exploring alternative therapies, such as herbal remedies. This research project aims to investigate the efficacy of herbal remedies in managing chronic pain through a systematic review and meta-analysis of existing literature. The systematic review will involve a comprehensive search of electronic databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science, to identify relevant studies published in peer-reviewed journals. The inclusion criteria will focus on randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and observational studies evaluating the use of herbal remedies for chronic pain management. Studies published in the English language from the past two decades will be considered for inclusion. The meta-analysis will be conducted to synthesize the findings from the selected studies, focusing on key outcomes such as pain intensity, pain relief, and adverse effects associated with herbal remedies. Statistical analyses using appropriate software will be employed to assess the overall efficacy of herbal remedies compared to placebo or conventional treatments. The research methodology will adhere to established guidelines for conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses, ensuring transparency, reproducibility, and methodological rigor. Quality assessment of the included studies will be performed to evaluate the risk of bias and the overall strength of evidence. The findings of this study are expected to provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of herbal remedies in managing chronic pain, helping to guide clinical practice and inform healthcare decision-making.
