Abstract
Cancer remains a significant global health challenge, with existing treatment modalities often associated with severe side effects and limited efficacy due to nonspecific targeting of cancer cells. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in the development of novel drug delivery systems for targeted cancer therapy to enhance treatment outcomes and reduce adverse effects. This research project focuses on investigating and developing innovative drug delivery systems that can specifically target cancer cells while sparing healthy tissues. The research begins with a comprehensive review of the literature on existing drug delivery systems for cancer therapy. This literature review covers various aspects such as nanotechnology-based drug delivery systems, antibody-drug conjugates, liposomes, and other advanced delivery technologies used in targeted cancer therapy. The review highlights the strengths and limitations of current approaches, paving the way for the development of more effective and precise drug delivery systems. Methodology The research methodology involves a systematic approach to designing and optimizing novel drug delivery systems for targeted cancer therapy. This includes the selection of suitable drug carriers, encapsulation techniques, targeting ligands, and evaluation methods. Various in vitro and in vivo experiments will be conducted to assess the efficacy, safety, and targeting ability of the developed drug delivery systems. Results and Discussion The findings from this research project will be presented and discussed in detail in Chapter Four. The discussion will focus on the performance of the developed drug delivery systems in targeting cancer cells, improving drug accumulation at the tumor site, enhancing therapeutic efficacy, and minimizing off-target effects. The results will be analyzed in the context of existing literature and potential implications for clinical translation. Conclusion In conclusion, the development of novel drug delivery systems for targeted cancer therapy holds great promise in improving the effectiveness of cancer treatment while minimizing side effects. This research project aims to contribute to the advancement of precision medicine in oncology by offering innovative solutions for targeted drug delivery. The insights gained from this study have the potential to shape future directions in cancer therapy and personalized medicine.
