Abstract
This research study aims to assess parental attitudes and knowledge regarding childhood vaccinations in a rural setting. The importance of childhood vaccinations in preventing the spread of infectious diseases cannot be understated. However, there are challenges related to parental attitudes and knowledge that may impact vaccination rates. This study seeks to address these challenges by investigating the factors influencing parental attitudes and knowledge towards childhood vaccinations in a rural community. The research methodology for this study includes a mixed-methods approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. Surveys will be distributed to parents in the rural setting to gather information on their attitudes towards vaccinations, their knowledge of vaccine-preventable diseases, and their reasons for vaccine hesitancy, if any. In addition, interviews will be conducted with a subset of parents to gain a deeper understanding of their perspectives on childhood vaccinations. The literature review section will explore existing research on parental attitudes and knowledge regarding childhood vaccinations, highlighting the importance of effective communication strategies, trust in healthcare providers, and access to vaccination services in influencing parental decision-making. The research findings will be analyzed and discussed in Chapter Four, providing insights into the factors that shape parental attitudes and knowledge towards childhood vaccinations in rural areas. The significance of this study lies in its potential to inform public health interventions aimed at improving childhood vaccination rates in rural communities. By understanding the barriers and facilitators to vaccination acceptance among parents, healthcare providers and policymakers can develop targeted strategies to increase vaccination coverage and prevent the spread of vaccine-preventable diseases. In conclusion, this research study will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on parental attitudes and knowledge regarding childhood vaccinations in rural settings. By identifying key factors that influence parental decision-making, this study aims to inform evidence-based interventions that promote vaccine acceptance and protect the health of children in rural communities.
