Abstract
Telehealth, the delivery of healthcare services through telecommunications technology, has emerged as a promising solution to address healthcare disparities in rural communities. This research project aims to explore the impact of telehealth on patient care in rural settings from a nursing perspective. The study will investigate how telehealth interventions influence access to care, patient outcomes, and nursing practices in rural communities. Through a comprehensive literature review, the research will critically analyze existing evidence on the effectiveness of telehealth in improving healthcare delivery in rural areas. The research methodology will involve a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of patient data and qualitative interviews with healthcare providers and patients. The study will be conducted in rural healthcare facilities that have implemented telehealth programs, allowing for an in-depth examination of the benefits and challenges associated with telehealth adoption in these settings. By exploring the experiences and perceptions of nurses, patients, and other stakeholders, the research aims to provide valuable insights into the practical implications of telehealth for rural patient care. Findings from the study will be discussed in Chapter Four, highlighting the key themes and trends identified through data analysis. The discussion will address the impact of telehealth on healthcare access, quality of care, patient satisfaction, and nursing workflows in rural communities. The research will also consider the barriers and limitations of telehealth implementation in rural settings, such as technological challenges, regulatory issues, and resource constraints. In conclusion, this research project will offer a comprehensive assessment of the impact of telehealth on patient care in rural communities from a nursing perspective. The findings will contribute to the growing body of knowledge on telehealth effectiveness and inform future strategies for improving healthcare delivery in underserved rural areas. By recognizing the unique role of nursing in telehealth implementation, this study aims to promote evidence-based practices that enhance patient outcomes and healthcare quality in rural settings.
