Project Abstract

Abstract
The escalating threat of drug-resistant bacteria poses a significant challenge to global public health. In response to this pressing issue, this research project aimed to explore the antimicrobial potential of plant-derived compounds as an alternative strategy to combat drug-resistant bacterial infections. The study focused on investigating the efficacy of natural compounds sourced from various plant species in inhibiting the growth of drug-resistant bacterial strains through in vitro experiments. The research methodology involved the extraction and isolation of bioactive compounds from selected plant sources, followed by screening for antimicrobial activity against a panel of clinically relevant drug-resistant bacterial strains using standard microbiological techniques. The study also included the evaluation of the mechanisms of action of the identified active compounds through molecular and biochemical analyses. The literature review highlighted the growing body of evidence supporting the antimicrobial properties of plant-derived compounds, emphasizing their potential as novel therapeutic agents against drug-resistant bacteria.
