The rise of drug-resistant bacteria poses a significant threat to public health worldwide, highlighting the urgent need for alternative antimicrobial strategies. In response to this challenge, this research project aims to investigate the antimicrobial properties of natural plant extracts against drug-resistant bacteria. The study will focus on identifying plant extracts that exhibit potent antimicrobial activity against a panel of drug-resistant bacteria, with the ultimate goal of developing novel therapeutic agents to combat antibiotic resistance. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, highlighting the background of the study and the problem statement regarding drug-resistant bacteria. The objectives of the study are outlined, along with the limitations and scope of the research. The significance of the study in addressing the global issue of antibiotic resistance is discussed, and the structure of the research is presented. Additionally, key terms and concepts relevant to the study are defined to provide clarity and context. Chapter Two consists of a comprehensive literature review that explores existing research on natural plant extracts with antimicrobial properties. The review encompasses studies on the mechanisms of action of plant extracts against bacteria, as well as the potential applications of these extracts as alternative antimicrobial agents.
