Abstract
The emergence of drug-resistant bacteria poses a significant threat to public health worldwide, necessitating the exploration of alternative antimicrobial agents. The present study focuses on investigating the antimicrobial properties of plant extracts as potential solutions to combat drug-resistant bacteria. The research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of various plant extracts in inhibiting the growth of drug-resistant bacterial strains through in vitro experiments. The study will begin with a comprehensive literature review to provide a background on the current state of antimicrobial resistance and the potential of plant extracts as antimicrobial agents. This will be followed by a detailed description of the research methodology, including the selection and preparation of plant extracts, bacterial strains used, and experimental procedures. The research will involve testing the antimicrobial activity of plant extracts against drug-resistant bacterial strains using standard microbiological techniques, such as agar diffusion assays and determination of minimum inhibitory concentrations. The results obtained from these experiments will be analyzed and discussed in Chapter Four, highlighting the efficacy of plant extracts in inhibiting the growth of drug-resistant bacteria. The significance of this study lies in the potential of plant extracts to serve as alternative antimicrobial agents against drug-resistant bacteria, thereby contributing to the development of novel therapeutic strategies. The findings of this research can have implications for the pharmaceutical industry, healthcare sector, and public health policy in combating antimicrobial resistance. In conclusion, this study aims to provide valuable insights into the antimicrobial properties of plant extracts against drug-resistant bacteria. By elucidating the efficacy of plant-based antimicrobial agents, this research contributes to the ongoing efforts to address the global challenge of antimicrobial resistance.
