Examination malpractices have become a significant concern in educational systems worldwide due to their adverse effects on teaching and learning. This research project aims to explore the various forms of examination malpractices, the reasons behind their prevalence, and their impact on both students and the educational system. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature, this study delves into the different types of malpractices, including cheating, plagiarism, impersonation, and leakage of examination questions. The research also investigates the factors contributing to the perpetuation of examination malpractices, such as pressure to excel, lack of proper supervision during exams, and weak institutional policies. By examining the perspectives of students, teachers, and administrators, this study seeks to provide a holistic understanding of the root causes of malpractices and how they can be effectively addressed. Furthermore, the adverse effects of examination malpractices on teaching and learning are analyzed in detail. It is evident that when students engage in malpractices, they undermine the integrity of the examination process, leading to unfair advantages for some and disadvantaging others who choose to uphold academic honesty. This creates a culture of mistrust and unfair competition among students, ultimately eroding the value of education as a means of personal and societal development. Moreover, examination malpractices have a detrimental impact on the quality of education and the credibility of academic institutions. When assessments are compromised, the validity and reliability of academic qualifications come into question, posing a serious challenge to the integrity of the education system. Additionally, teachers and administrators are burdened with the task of identifying and addressing malpractices, diverting their focus from effective teaching and learning practices. In conclusion, this research project underscores the urgent need for robust strategies to combat examination malpractices and safeguard the integrity of the education system. By fostering a culture of academic honesty, promoting ethical behavior, and implementing stringent measures to deter malpractices, educational institutions can uphold the principles of fairness, transparency, and meritocracy.
