Fibrinogen is a vital glycoprotein found in the blood that plays a crucial role in the coagulation cascade. Beyond its well-known function in blood clotting, fibrinogen has been increasingly recognized for its involvement in various biochemical processes, especially in inflammatory responses and tissue repair. This research project aims to investigate the diverse biochemical effects of fibrinogen on different physiological systems. The study will focus on elucidating the role of fibrinogen in modulating inflammatory pathways, including the activation of immune cells and the production of inflammatory mediators. Furthermore, the impact of fibrinogen on endothelial cell function and vascular integrity will be explored to understand its contribution to cardiovascular health. The project will also investigate the interactions between fibrinogen and other proteins involved in coagulation and inflammation, such as fibrin, thrombin, and cytokines.
