This research project aims to assess sustainable farming practices in rural communities with the objective of improving household food security. The study focuses on exploring the current farming practices in rural areas, identifying the challenges faced by farmers, and evaluating the impact of sustainable farming practices on household food security. The research methodology involves a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches, including surveys, interviews, and field observations. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, giving an overview of the background of the study, problem statement, research objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the research, and key definitions of terms. The chapter sets the stage for the research by outlining the rationale and relevance of assessing sustainable farming practices in rural communities. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review, covering ten key topics related to sustainable farming practices, rural communities, household food security, and related concepts. The review synthesizes existing research and theories to provide a solid foundation for understanding the subject matter and informing the research design. Chapter Three details the research methodology, including research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, ethical considerations, and limitations. The chapter outlines the steps taken to gather and analyze data, ensuring the validity and reliability of the research findings. Chapter Four presents the findings of the study, discussing seven key themes emerging from the data analysis.
