Abstract
Ensuring food security in rural communities is a critical challenge in achieving sustainable development goals. This research project focuses on the assessment of sustainable agricultural practices and their role in promoting food security in rural communities. The study aims to investigate the current agricultural practices being employed in rural areas, analyze their sustainability, and evaluate their impact on food security. The research will also explore the challenges faced by rural communities in ensuring food security and propose recommendations for improvement. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, background information on sustainable agriculture and food security, problem statement, research objectives, limitations, scope, significance, and the structure of the research. It also includes the definitions of key terms used in the study. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review on sustainable agricultural practices and their relationship to food security. The chapter covers ten key areas, including the importance of sustainable agriculture, types of sustainable practices, their impact on food security, and case studies of successful implementation in rural communities. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology employed in this study. It includes the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, ethical considerations, and the theoretical framework guiding the research. The chapter also discusses the limitations of the methodology and strategies employed to address them. In Chapter Four, the findings of the research are presented and discussed in detail. The chapter covers seven key areas, including an analysis of current agricultural practices in rural communities, their sustainability, the impact on food security indicators, challenges faced by rural communities, and potential solutions to improve food security. Finally, Chapter Five provides a conclusion and summary of the research project. The chapter highlights the key findings, conclusions drawn from the study, implications for policy and practice, recommendations for future research, and the overall significance of the study in advancing knowledge on sustainable agricultural practices and food security in rural communities. In conclusion, this research project aims to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on sustainable agricultural practices and food security in rural communities.
