Abstract
This research study focuses on assessing the impact of agricultural extension services on promoting sustainable farming practices in rural communities. The importance of agricultural extension services in enhancing agricultural productivity and sustainability has been widely recognized, particularly in rural areas where farmers often lack access to information, resources, and technology. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of extension services in promoting sustainable farming practices and improving the livelihoods of rural farmers. The research methodology involves a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with farmers, extension workers, and other stakeholders involved in agricultural extension services. Data collection will be carried out in several rural communities, selected based on their varying levels of exposure to extension services. The quantitative data will be analyzed using statistical techniques to identify correlations and patterns, while the qualitative data will be thematically analyzed to provide deeper insights into the perceptions and experiences of the participants. The literature review section of this study explores the theoretical framework and previous research on agricultural extension services, sustainable farming practices, and their impact on rural development. The review highlights the importance of tailored extension services, farmer participation, knowledge transfer, and capacity building in promoting sustainable agriculture. The findings of this research are expected to provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of agricultural extension services in promoting sustainable farming practices in rural communities.
