Project Abstract

Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the relative academic performances of senior secondary school students in Home Economics in external examinations from 2009 to 2015 in Oturkpo Local Government Area (L.G.A). The research utilized a case study approach to analyze the academic performance trends of students in Home Economics over the specified time frame. Data was collected from examination records and reports from the Oturkpo L.G.A educational authorities. The study focused on assessing the percentage of students who passed the Home Economics subject in the external examinations each year, as well as identifying any noticeable trends or patterns in their academic performances. The findings revealed varying academic performances among senior secondary school students in Home Economics over the years 2009 to 2015 in Oturkpo L.G.A. The analysis of the data indicated fluctuations in the pass rates of students taking the Home Economics subject in the external examinations during the specified period. Factors contributing to these fluctuations were also explored, including teaching methodologies, student engagement levels, and resource availability. The study highlighted the importance of consistent monitoring and evaluation of academic performances to identify areas for improvement and enhance overall student achievement. Overall, the research findings shed light on the academic performances of senior secondary school students in Home Economics within the context of external examinations in Oturkpo L.G.A from 2009 to 2015. The study provides valuable insights for educational stakeholders, teachers, and policymakers to assess the effectiveness of current educational practices and make informed decisions to enhance student learning outcomes in the field of Home Economics. The implications of the study extend to curriculum development, teacher training, and resource allocation to support the academic success of students in Home Economics and other related subjects. In conclusion, the research underscores the significance of continuous assessment and evaluation of student academic performances to track progress, identify areas for improvement, and implement targeted interventions to support student learning. The findings from this study contribute to the existing body of knowledge on educational assessment and provide a basis for further research on enhancing academic achievements in Home Economics among senior secondary school students in Oturkpo L.G.A and beyond.
