Abstract
Climate change is a global phenomenon that has been significantly impacting various environmental processes, including coastal erosion. This research project aims to assess the impact of climate change on coastal erosion in a specific region, focusing on understanding the dynamics of erosion processes and identifying the key drivers of change. The study area selected for this research is the coastal region of XYZ, known for its vulnerability to erosion due to changing climatic conditions and sea-level rise. The research methodology involves a combination of field surveys, aerial imagery analysis, GIS mapping, and statistical modeling to analyze the extent and rate of coastal erosion in the study area over a specific period. Additionally, climate data and historical records will be examined to identify trends and patterns that correlate with erosion events. The literature review section provides a comprehensive overview of existing research on coastal erosion, climate change impacts, and mitigation strategies, highlighting the gaps in current knowledge that this study seeks to address. Findings from the field surveys and data analysis will be discussed in detail in Chapter Four, where the key factors contributing to coastal erosion in the study area will be identified and analyzed. The results will be presented in the form of maps, graphs, and statistical tables to illustrate the spatial and temporal patterns of erosion and climate change impacts. The discussion will also explore the implications of these findings for local communities, infrastructure, and coastal management strategies. The conclusion and summary chapter will provide a synthesis of the research findings, highlighting the key insights gained from the study and their implications for future research and policy development. Recommendations for adaptive measures and sustainable coastal management practices will be proposed based on the research outcomes, aiming to enhance resilience to climate change impacts and mitigate the effects of coastal erosion in the study region. Overall, this research project contributes to the growing body of knowledge on the interaction between climate change and coastal erosion, emphasizing the need for proactive measures to address the challenges posed by environmental changes.
