Abstract
Climate change has become a significant global concern, leading to various environmental challenges, one of which is coastal erosion. This research project aims to assess the impact of climate change on coastal erosion patterns in a specific coastal area. By conducting a case study, the study seeks to investigate the changing dynamics of coastal erosion, influenced by climate change factors such as sea-level rise, extreme weather events, and changing precipitation patterns. The research begins with a comprehensive literature review, exploring existing knowledge on climate change impacts on coastal erosion and relevant methodologies for studying coastal processes. The methodology section details the research design, data collection methods, and analysis techniques employed to assess the coastal erosion patterns in the selected coastal area. Through field surveys, remote sensing data analysis, and Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping, the study aims to quantify and map the extent of coastal erosion over a specified time period. By comparing historical erosion rates with current observations, the research intends to identify trends and patterns that can be attributed to climate change factors. The findings of the study are discussed in detail in Chapter Four, highlighting the observed changes in coastal erosion patterns and their relationship to climate change variables. The discussion delves into the implications of these findings for coastal management and adaptation strategies, emphasizing the need for proactive measures to mitigate the impacts of climate change on coastal areas. In conclusion, this research project provides valuable insights into the complex interactions between climate change and coastal erosion, emphasizing the importance of understanding these dynamics for sustainable coastal management. By focusing on a specific coastal area, the study contributes to the broader understanding of how climate change is shaping coastal landscapes and the urgent need for adaptive strategies to protect vulnerable coastal communities and ecosystems.
